Basic Purpose

To establish a local market presence within surrounding branch area through involvement/participation in community and networking activities. To enhance organizational brand awareness and develop new business. Develop and service relationships with Realty Plus Partners, Real Estate Brokerages, and new home builders to ultimately drive loan growth. Act as a liaison between NFCU mortgage sections, Branches, and Realty Plus Partners. Work closely with section Manager and referral partners within assigned territory. Improve communication and flow throughout the loan process between realtors/builders and members; provide solution or assist where needed to maximize efficiency and service. Follow up with builders/Realtors/members to respond to inquiries and questions. Work closely with Navy Federal’s Builder Liaison team to establish/formulate strategy regarding new builder relationships, and service existing ones. Work within the branch network coordinating lobby days, home buyer seminars, and supporting branch employees for mortgage related inquiries or questions.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and maintain a quality network of business relationships that serve as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities (network may consist of real estate professionals, builders, as well as other valuable referral sources, enhanced by regular participation in business related development opportunities)
  • Implement and manage an effective referral network and call program; conduct in-office visits, make sales presentations to promote mortgage portfolio products and services
  • Identify business opportunities based on knowledge of client markets, products and services
  • Call on existing or prospective clients within the framework of a business development program including identification of prospects, suitable method of contact and determination of their mortgage lending needs and appropriate products/services
  • Achieve specific business development goals; document activities and prepare reports as needed
  • Work with management to plan business development opportunities
  • Establish and develop long term partnership relationships with real estate agents, builder partners, and internal collaboration with branches and mortgage leadership
  • Engage in marketing and outreach events aimed at fostering relationships with real estate agents & builder sales agents; to promote brand awareness and to develop new business opportunities within the mortgage lending industry
  • Sponsor, attend, and/or actively participate in local realtor/builder industry related events, meetings, committees, trade shows, and expositions to further develop business contacts, expand referral network, attract new mortgage business, retain and grow existing business
  • Individually or jointly lead or participate in Home Buyer Seminars, Lobby Days, industry events, military events, and other member educational opportunities within assigned markets
  • Provide mortgage educational training opportunities and support to internal partners; may assist with loan volume overflow, attend branch meetings and provide mortgage updates, address related questions or concerns
  • Develop, promote, and maintain the growth of productive business relationships to further expand real estate lending business – Broad latitude
  • Involved in driving continuous process improvement to enhance mortgage experience quality for all related parties; maintain high operational efficiency – Lead
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Incumbent will be required, prior to the assumption of employment duties, to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry; includes fingerprinting and background checks
  • Significant outside sales or business development experience – 3 years minimum desired, mortgage preferred
  • Experience in building long term networking relationships, preferably in fostering real estate lending business
  • Familiarity with mortgage lending products, services, programs, policies and procedures
  • Expert skill in developing and presenting sales presentations
  • Expert skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tact
  • Expert organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Expert skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Expert skill in producing desired results and achieving goals and objectives
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software skills
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations
  • Effective relationship cultivation and consulting skills
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
  • Advanced skill identifying appropriate referral sources
  • Advanced skill in developing and maintaining business relationships


Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Prior mortgage or real estate experience
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the local real estate market and the mortgage industry
  • Advanced knowledge of mortgage lending products, services, programs, policies and procedures
  • NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry) designated


Hours: Monday – Friday; 8:00AM – 4:30PM

  • Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting onsite will ultimately be determined by the employee’s leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and onboarding process.


Pay range for this position is: $62,900 – $88,000 Annually

  • Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish pay ranges the enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the pay range, based on your experience, location, and market position.
