What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work directly with product development engineering teams from prototyping through production by providing design input aimed to optimize manufacturing processes
  • Write efficient production/prototype programs for multi-axis CNC lathes and milling machines, using CAM software (Esprit), conversational, and/or G/M codes
  • Investigate processes and implement improvements to continue evolving the shop (product, processes, & team)
  • Train other team members on effective machining techniques
  • Analyze part programs for errors and efficiency improvements
  • Research & provide guidance for new machine purchases
  • Execute new machine installs
  • Responsible for the technical side of new machine installs and training of co-workers on these machines
  • Check parts against the print using precision measuring equipment to ensure they meet quality standards. Document inspection data
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations
  • Maintain and builds on current knowledge of machinery, tooling, & programming techniques
  • Performs timely and accurate completion of all required tasks and special projects
  • Occasionally set-up and operate multi-axis CNC lathes and CNC mills
  • Supports machine troubleshooting and maintenance with technical knowledge as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

. Requirements:

  • In depth knowledge of and experience with programming with CAM software (Esprit), conversational, and/or G/M codes
  • Ability to demonstrate specific track record of success and high achievement in a machining environment
  • Extensive knowledge of CNC tooling, tool blocks, machines, & controllers
  • Mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform machine related trigonometric calculations
  • Advanced ability to read prints and interpret technical specification information, understand GD&T, and utilize 3D models to efficiently create machine programs
  • Creativity and an ability to think outside the box for solutions
  • Tolerances are tight, making attention to detail and a precision mindset a necessity
  • Must be comfortable being in a leadership role in the shop as well as meeting rooms
  • Innovative mindset willing to challenge the status quo in a professional manner as needed
  • Highly motivated with a solid work ethic
  • Time management: allocates time efficiently to the most important issues, completes work in a timely fashion
  • Self-starter that is comfortable working independently as well as in a team environment to drive results
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • High school diploma
  • Certification in Machine Technology, CNC machine operation, or equivalent from a tech school or college
  • 4 years in a CAM programming role
  • Experience using macros, sub-routines, and logic functions in programming
  • Experience with mill/turn lathes and/or Swiss style machines
