CommLoan’s Business Development Officer is responsible for supporting their assigned Loan Consultant. Business Development Officers consult and follow up with potential borrowers on incoming loan inquiries and manage an origination pipeline of leads and prequalified borrowers sourced from the internet, referral partners, and loan quotes for CRE brokers. The primary goal of this position is to work closely with your Loan Consultant so they can manage the loan flow and ultimately move quality loans into processing.

The Business Development Officer is expected to reach his or her goals each month by focusing on targets and key metrics provided by management. The Business Development Officer will be expected to stay organized and employ effective time management skills to achieve success in assisting the Loan Consultant. This individual must maintain a professional image of the company. Integrity, passion, and possessing excellent communication and presentation skills are essential for this role.

Job Duties

  • Respond to all incoming loan inquiries within 2 hours
  • Consult with borrower to identify their needs
  • Complete borrower input form and generate prequalification certificate
  • Follow up with borrower to secure signed broker agreement
  • Assist Loan Consultant with transferring the loan into Processing
  • Maintain a loan pipeline of leads and prequalified borrowers
  • Create loan quotes for CRE brokers & generate loan opportunities
  • Build rapport and strengthen existing relationships with CRE brokers
  • Use Follow up cadence/touch strategy to cultivate relationships with CRE brokers


  • University degree or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while maintaining established sales quotas
  • Solid experience in loan qualification, relationship development, and time management
  • Success in qualifying loan opportunities involving multiple key decision makers
  • Strong problem identification and objection resolution skills
  • Able to build rapport with potential clients
  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm
  • Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • High level of integrity, professional demeanor, selling style, and work ethic
  • Experience with CRM software preferred

Working Conditions

  • This is a hybrid role with onsite and remote flexibility
  • Casual, collaborative environment.

Compensation Package

  • Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000
  • Commission Range: $10,000 – $20,000
  • Potential Stock Options: $10,000- $20,000
