Job Description: Front End Store Team Member

Job Type: Part Time- full time potential

Job Summary: The front-end store team member is the “face” of the store. Front end store team members provide top notch helpful service to every customer. Utilizing Point of Sale terminals to assist and help customers, along with handling financial transactions will be the primary role of the front-end store team member. Secondary tasks include store merchandising and maintenance.

CountryMax Overview: Beginning in 1984 as a small farm supply and feed store owned by the Payne family, CountryMax has grown into one of western New York State’s biggest success stories. CountryMax now operates 16 locations spanning from Buffalo to just north of Binghamton, and employs over 300 team members, a number that continues to grow each year. Over time the product offering as well as store size has increased dramatically- in addition to farm and feed supplies, CountryMax is now a one-stop shop for all lawn and garden products, pet supplies, small pets, clothing and backyard wild bird feeding. CountryMax customers have come to rely on a level of service, pricing, and small-town feel in a way that larger stores cannot replicate- yet they also enjoy the benefits of CountryMax’s extensive purchasing power and flexibility that typically tips the scales between the “big-boxes” and independents.

Position Outline: The front-end team member is a key position in the store. The front-end team member will receive hands on education in the store. The front-end store team member needs to be a self-starter and enjoy interacting with people. Efficient operation of the Point of Sale terminal is a key component. The front-end team member will also be tasked with handling various financial transactions. The essential job functions include (but are not limited to) are:

  • Provide top-notch CountryMax helpful service, including carrying out any and all products for customers and patrons
  • Operate Point of Sale terminals and handle financial transactions
  • As a team monitor and control inventory stock levels
  • Create and generate special order requests for any products not currently on hand or sold in store
  • Establish business relationships with the various patrons and customers that shop at CountryMax
  • Work as a team in the overall store maintenance and merchandising to keep the store presentable and neat

Position Requirements:

The front-end team member will primarily work at the front end and at the Point of Sale terminals

  • Previous experience in a retail environment is preferred but not required
  • Proficient on a PC, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Past experience operating a Point of Sale terminal is a plus
  • Must be able to stand on your feet for up to 12 hours or during the store’s operating hours
  • Helpful service and keen social skills are a must
  • Ability to work as a team in a retail atmosphere

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.50 – $14.00 per hour
