Sales Associate Job Description
Job Summary
The Sales Associate is responsible for providing exemplary customer service that is designed to improve the productivity and profitability of the store. The Sales Associate provides the customer with solutions by working proactively with them. As a member of the store team the Sales Associate will serve as a role model of retail execution. The overall priority is on sales and service at all times. Stocking products and assisting with stockroom duties are accomplished as needed. The Sales Associate will report directly to the Store Manager.
Essential Accountabilities
Customer Service
Deliver the Hallmark brand promise through enthusiasm, exceptional Customer Service and outstanding store standards. Successfully execute all aspects of the customer experience and store operations of assigned store including driving sales, personal development, inventory management, loss prevention and store profitability. All communications are performed in English, therefore reading, writing, and speaking fluently in English is required.
Operations
Follow all directives and perform in a consistent manner with regard to sales, profitability, customer service, merchandising and fiscal aptitude. Show ability to change on a regular basis and ability to work with a diverse group of people. Receive guidance from the Store Manager, General Managers and the Owner. Performance can be measured by sales reports, customer satisfaction benchmarks, overall store appearance, fiscal management, and general attitude and approach to assignments.
Selling/Product Knowledge
Utilize training to obtain skills to work in a productive and profitable Hallmark Gold Crown store. This position will require a thorough knowledge of Hallmark Gold Crown and allied products, services, systems and store operations. Support Store Managers in training new employees.
Merchandising
Maintain and restock displays with merchandise on a regular basis. Perform all housekeeping duties regularly.
Other Responsibilities
The Sales Associate will have access to store cash and product assets and will be held accountable for them. Work closely with the Store Manager to understand policies, operational changes and/or training initiatives. Position requires physical duties involving lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, as well as cash management and basic computer (register) skills.
Minimum Education and Experience Preferred
Ages 16 and older. A high school degree is preferred. Experience in retail assignments or other related outside experience is also preferred. The incumbent should have strong verbal selling skills, interpersonal skills, flexibility, a strong sense of urgency, the ability to adapt to change and the desire and ability to learn the business.
Competencies
The Sales Associate serves as a role model for retail service and performs a functional execution role in the store. In addition to demonstrating proficiency in interpersonal competencies, the Sales Associate must also have a thorough understanding of Hallmark products, systems and store operations.
